Lux Center for the Arts

At LUX Center for the Arts, art is what we do every day.  We do it through classes for children and adults, exhibitions of works by the finest local and national artists, and through our Art Van deLUX outreach program for under-resourced children and senior citizens in our community.  The LUX Center is the only not-for-profit in Lincoln that offers a full range of art experiences for children and adults.

This year, we are starting a new collaborative weeklong summer camp.  The camp will be a collaboration with 5 great local organizations in various subject matter including; Children Museum, Children's Zoo, Pioneers Nature Center, University of Nebraska Morrill Hall and LUX Center.  The children will spend a full day from 9-4 rotating between the 5 organizations.

In March, two juried shows will be opening; Juried High School Student Art Show, juried by Nebraska Wesleyan art professors David Gracie, Susan Horn, Lisa Lockman, Don Paoletta, and Justin Shaw and National Juried Cup Exhibition, juried by nationally known potter, Julia Galloway.

Art Van deLUX was launched this past summer and has reached over 150 youth each quarter and a total of over 600 youth per school year.  We are currently doing outreach programs weekly in 10 different elementary and middle schools throughout the community and are working with local businesses to promote Creativity Workshops.
